VDay Blog- Courting Controversy

Here’s something el-presidente might tweet-

Lets play a game shall we? Just for fun.

Let’s call it ‘The Regeneration Game’. It’s a game any Doctor Who Fan can play, or writer/producer/actor, showrunner, whatever. You just have to lose the ability to count. Forget any ability to do simple maths, be a two year old just confused about this weird thing called ‘numbers’.

Actually, it’s a game Stephen Moffat invented, round about the time when he should’ve stepped down and done just Sherlock and Tintin rather than try juggling all three. (and dropping the ball on Who!)

Anyhoo, this is it- the only courting I’m gonna do on Valentine’s day- yes, SHE’S BACK BABY! A hot date with a Red-hot B^*%$! With a bad-A&%$ attitude- so watch out! Obi-Don Drumphioli never got as controversial as me and Miss C.

So, watch out, as we play THE REGENERATION GAME- Coming sooner than expected, or even wanted!

HAPPY VDAY!- WITH FLOWERS!

Welcome to Anything can happen 2017!

Well, that’s what I’m hoping for anyway. A Fresh Start, a New Beginning, the slate wiped clean.keep-calm-because-anything-can-happen-1

To start with- I went to the shop and bought some wellies. I think my subconscious might be trying to tell me something- that was an impulse buy. Maybe my little jaunt round Talacre taught me to be more prepared than I already usually am for whatever eventualities may occur. It looks like it’ll be an epic five-part video anyway, plus I haven’t updated the five year anniversary like I thought I would.

Another thing I am planning in advance is Dr. Rrr! Series 2. In amongst the tidying and sorting I have not watched much this Christmas. (Really? How about Deep Space 9 series 7, or Brave or Thunderbolt Fantasy, or Doctor Who- The Return of Doctor Mysterio/Hell Bent/Spearhead from space, or Yuri on Ice finale (yes, really!) or even last episode of series 6 of Game of Thrones, what a revelation at the end!)

Okay, I might have watched a few things, but nothing really Christmassy, unless you count Nativity 3 in school or Cinderella in New Brighton, but that was before Term ended. Rogue One doesn’t count as an Xmas film, but saw it twice, the second time enjoyed it a bit more, but definitely more darker than others, about same as ep 3 I expect, but the prequels don’t really count anyway, in my opinion.

So there we go, anything can happen now I’ve got some wellies. It’s like when Ford Prefect tells Arthur Dent in Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy that the only thing he needs to survive is a towel, so I guess that’s next on my shopping list.

For now though, I’m eating my first pizza of 2017 and watching the New Sherlock- now there’s an epic combo if ever there was one.

Happy 2017- Get ready and keep your wellies handy, ‘cos anything can Happen!!

What’s the Scariest thing I have ever written?

tainted-love-cover-3I’ve become so numb, I can’t feel you there

Become so tired, so much more aware

By becoming this, all I want to do

Is be more like me and be less like you

Linkin Park- Numb

What IS the Scariest thing I have ever written?

That’s a tough question, something I’d never considered before, as I’m usually conscious of being U or at the most, PG rated. Anyway this year’s Infinite Whoniverses Halloween Special might be IT- the Thing Unmentionable, the Horror of Horrors- 18 or more probably 15 rated.

Just to be clear- I don’t write erotica or have blood and gore flying everywhere. ‘Incineration Day’ in the EPIC Anthology was a black comedy, a dark, tense thriller with a bit of a gruesome twist. But really it’s been mainly child-friendly, family audience, like old Saturday night teatime. Okay, Infestation Day from IW last Halloween was creepy, especially if you’re a tad Arachnophobic, but now, it’s all about to change.

TAINTED LOVE is a Vampire tale, from Gallifreyan Mythology and The Eternal Wars era of Doctor Who lore. I watched Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 2 for inspiration- my favourite episodes from Surprise/Innocence to Becoming. Those are all rated 15. The most graphic Gothic/Horror stories of the Fourth Doctor- Deadly Assassin/Horror of Fang Rock/Pyramids of Mars and Robots of Death are all PG rated, although Ark in Space dvd is U for some mysterious reason. I guess it’s a matter of where you think the line should be drawn. So, I am going a bit beyond what I usually write, two scenes in particular have made me realise it’s a bit more graphic, both Vampire attacks, but blinkin’ Barnacles Fishcake, talk about stretching out of the comfy zone.

The irony is, it started out as a Romantic tale for The Doctor Who Project in 2013. Part of the Season 39 line-up, The Children of Chaos had to include part of the continuing storyline of companions Tom and Val falling in love, getting married and leaving the TARDIS and TDWP Version of The Doctor. I elected to write the scene of their First Kiss, called it ‘The Moment’ and include it in the story. Well, that story was never completed, but I still wanted to use the scene somehow. This is it. A perfect catalyst for a tragic story, the heartache of something so promising gone terribly wrong. The cruel ironies of life and decisions and choices you end up regretting. (I’ve had quite a few of those too!)

So, consider yourself forewarned- Infinite Whoniverses is going to a scary place this Halloween…..

OOOOOOO!

AN EPIC JOURNEY- Two Years later

Sometimes things do not go as you would expect them to, life has a way of throwing a curveball every now and again.

The journey of bringing the EPIC! Anthology to publication is one such tale.

epic 4

So began the intro to my First ever Anthology Publication back in 2014. So, two years later, how is it going?? Well, not that well I think. I haven’t checked Amazon or the Facebook page to see how it’s going, so that’s something to do. I think it’s been a bit quiet because a few of the same Writers submitted stories for a semi-sequel ‘Courage’ which should have been published last year, but as far as I know has not materialised yet. Weirdly enough, my story- The Last Christmas of Planet Earth, featured an Alien Invasion of Liverpool with Alien Clowns, a bit disturbing with all the nonsense of idiots dressed up trying to scare people, though in one case it backfired when one got hit with a bottle- very disturbing indeed.

I’ve had a look and even though Omni reboot took down By the Lights of the Silvery Moons (because their Archives only last a year!) the other stories are still available to read and download.

So, here’s to EPIC! The Anthology-

Why am I still Single?

I realised just recently how long it has been since my last ‘serious’ relationship- 10 years.

That’s right- a decade, doesn’t feel like a stellar achievement, not like six years writing this blog or working in a school, just the exact opposite, a bit depressing at times. It was something I rushed into and ended up regretting for a very long time, but life’s like that- everything and everyone constantly in motion, on the move every day, back-and-forth like yoyos. Perhaps that’s why I haven’t jumped into anything. Oh I did go through a phase of online dating, but reality rarely met expectations, like The Soufflé Girl from Asylum of the Daleks. Because I learned that people do exaggerate and lie on their online profiles.

I won’t go into any details of my dating disasters, maybe I have expectations that are too high and are never met, perhaps sometimes I am too unrealistic maybe?

Another thing I’ve found is when I fall for someone, I fall hard and fast, so when I crash back to Reality, well, I guess the fallout and crater impact are pretty awful sometimes. It’s easy to ‘feel’ infatuated, but what do you do when the object of your affection doesn’t return it or just ignores you? Life throws its curveballs hard and fast, so if you don’t catch it then it knocks you off your feet and onto the cold, hard concrete. (I might have paraphrased a Taylor Swift song there, oh dear!) (I think it’s ‘I knew you were trouble’, maybe??)

Falling flat on your backside, getting winded and confused is another part of the fallout, yet you have to back away and get a grip before you make an even bigger fool of yourself, which I’ve had to do a few times, and it is a difficult thing to do, but necessary for your own sanity.

Anyway, I have come up with a picture that might be a better alternative than swimming around in misery and confusion. I have to say I have been to a few beaches in the UK- Skegness and Hornsea on the East Coast, Exeter and Minehead in the South, Blackpool, New Brighton, West Kirby, Hoylake, Formby, Southport and even Hale in North West and Rhyl, Talacre, Prestatyn, somewhere on Anglesey (can’t remember where) and Aberystwyth in Wales. So found a picture from Hoylake beach- Looking toward the Horizon, off beyond Hilbre Island to Wales and beyond. Might be an interesting metaphor of where I am at. So giving it a go-

Imagine you are sitting on a Beach; it is a sunny, glorious summer day. Maybe you’re sat on a towel or on a deckchair, perhaps sunning yourself or sat underneath the welcome shade of an umbrella. Whatever you like.

The Beach isn’t packed, but there are a lot of people/activities going on around you. There is a bbq going, kids throwing Frisbees and building sandcastles, a dog chasing seagulls, couples holding hands, something of a party in the distance. There are also games- football, volleyball, more football, people flying kites, boats and surfboards on the waves.

Then something catches your attention. A solitary figure just on the Horizon. Faraway, yet moving closer.

In the midst of all the activities, all the distractions around you, they captivate your attention fully. Curious, you strain your eyes to see what is different. You can tell it’s a Woman, a golden Goddess, radiant, gliding along the sand.

And she is heading right towards you.

Straightaway you want to jump up, run over and greet her before anything else catches her attention. She could go over to the bbq, join in a game, meet someone else along the way or change direction and head to the water’s edge.

But no, you stay put, right where you are, enjoying the day. Basking.

Why be worried about something that may or may not even happen?

So you shrug and look away. Watch sandcastles being constructed by future Architects, see someone step into a hole in the sand and laugh at themselves, you sniggering with them. It is such a glorious day.

Then you glance back, she is still approaching you, clearer than before, but still far-off. Maybe you should get up, stretch your legs and go for a wander? Ask if she’d like some company (you wouldn’t mind some just for a change)

But stay put, let her approach you.

Eventually, she is getting nearer, and has noticed you, but still heading in your direction.

It looks like this could be an interesting day after all.

somewhere-on-the-horizon

Okay, may sound like Wishful Thinking, (of which I am the god, king and lord majestic Emperor of!) But I do like the imagery, the metaphor of just being still, not rushing headlong over a romanticised cliff edge and into a heart-breaking pit of oblivion as usual.

Maybe playing the waiting game may not sound like the best strategy, but having done all the others and rushing headlong where Angels fear to tread has never worked out, so let’s try something else shall we?

Because you never know who or what may be coming your way.

Mother’s day again

TIGCRAFT MDI didn’t feel like doing a MD blogpost last week. Hell, still don’t wanna do it, but made a Tigcraft video, so there’s no excuses.

I also had no money whatsoever and couldn’t go out anywhere; life sometimes sucks beyond the telling of it.

Anyway, here’s Tiglet’s latest effort in the Tigwarts School of Tigcraft and Gimmickry series.

Enjoy.

INFINITE WHONIVERSES- The First Battlefield

The 180th Post is an Arthurian romance!!

Mr. Tiglet's Blog

BURNING LIKE STARFIRE COVER

Here’s a Brief Encounter story I began about 25 years ago, when Doctor Who Magazine was running a short story strand that only lasted a dozen issues or so.

This Episode of Infinite Whoniverses- Burning like Starfire begins an Arthurian sequence of five tales called The Destroyer Wars, which does what it says on the tin- have other creatures besides the one featured in Battlefield.

It always bothered me how easily Sylvester McCoy’s Seventh Doctor resolved the battle- was Morgaine secretly in love with Arthur all along? Yes, a fact supported by the Novelisation, Arthur did something un-gallant that set it all into motion.

It’s simply a tale of unrequited love.

Filling in the background- how the First Battlefield would have looked was easy- She blamed Merlin AKA- The Doctor, but which Doctor???

That’s open to interpretation, at least in my opinion.  There’s a few hints that it could be…
