1 reason Jodie Whittaker is perfect as the New Doctor

15th dr1 reason Jodie Whittaker is perfect as the New Doctor—

“My Successor? It could even be a Woman. There’s no reason why The Doctor should always be a Man”

Tom Baker on his ‘retirement’ from the role of Doctor Who.

(Quoted from Regeneration- The Mystery of Ages. The Time Travellers Guide by Peter Haining. 1987. (1995 edition))

Yes I know I have used that quote before, but it seems some people just don’t get it. It has finally happened. Speculated on in the tabloid papers and online for years and parodied in the Red Nose day sketch ‘Curse of the fatal death’ in which Joanna Lumley featured, Moffat has been paving for the way for it for the last few years, with the mention of The Corsair being a ‘bad girl’ to the General regenerating onscreen into the female general and the appearance of Missy.

There are probably a whole host of reasons I could make a list of, 10 or 5 are the most popular way of doing it, but really, there is ONE good, solid reason why –

BROADCHURCH

This is a far cry from the first thing I saw her in- attack the block, which was rubbish, and here’s my review of it-

https://iancaimercer.wordpress.com/2011/11/14/attack-the-block-dvd/

Anyway, I posted the video I made shortly after the announcement of Jodie Whittaker being cast as the new Doctor.

I didn’t want to get into the whole argument of whether it’s a good move, but you know it is really, so just accept it.

As I said before- Regeneration 101 will go into the whole mechanics of how a sex-change Regeneration works, and there has been precedent, not just over the last couple of years but in the classic series too. Tom Baker himself said why not, and there’s even been a XenoRegeneration (Species-change) I’m also going to explain why the numbering is wrong (15th not 13th!) and get into that as well, oh joy!

But for now, just enjoy my video and the hints of what’s to come in both Doctor Who and Infinite Whoniverses series 5- now rescheduled for Easter 2018!

And watch Broadchurch!

INFINITE TIGLETVERSES- COMING SOON!

itv2I’ve wanted to make some original stories/Films for a while now. It seems whenever I focus on Dr. Rrr/Infinite Whoniverses other things don’t get done- like the Photo/hiking updates

STORIES- They’re everywhere. But sometimes you have to go out and find them.

The good ones, the Best ones are the hardest to find. You have to go further and farther out to catch them.

This year, Infinite Tigletverses is boldly going places never been before, doing something completely different and being more ambitious than ever. Seeking Stories-

And no matter where it takes us,

We’re gonna find ‘em!!

Infinite Tigletverses- Autumn/Winter 2017/2018

Anything can happen Tuesday- My Directorial debut!

Yes, I am doing more than directing traffic or kids in the dinner queue!  One of the things I’ve had at the back of my mind for a while is producing/directing short films, live action rather than just me or my nephews and puppets.

Confusions is a series of one-act plays and I’m directing Drinking Companions, an interesting if somewhat dialogue-heavy scene set in a bar. While quite static, the challenge has been to make it engaging and interesting, which the actors are bringing life to. So I’m glad the opportunity.  Next week will be the conclusion and I am eager to see how it all turns out.

It got me musing on what else can count- directing myself and the hiking Vlogs/diaries maybe? Tiglet’s shenanigans and Dr. RRr has made me a puppet-master (ish) but directing people is a great step forward. Then that got me thinking I have directed Cosplayers/models for photos, so it’s another thing to build on.anything-can-happen-tuesdays-1

We’ll just have to see how it goes!

The New Doctor’s got ‘The Look”!

15th doctor JW

So I have finally posted the video I made shortly after the announcement of Jodie Whittaker being cast as the new Doctor.

I didn’t want to get into the whole argument of whether it’s a good move, but you know it is really, so just accept it.

Anyway, Regeneration 101 will go into the whole mechanics of how a sex-change Regeneration works, and there has been precedent, not just over the last couple of years but in the classic series too. But for now, just enjoy my video and the hints of what’s to come in both Doctor Who and Infinite Whoniverses series 5! (Although, Independence is late by a month, with the FemDr and Elise, so that’s almost ready!)

Nanananaa, she’s got THE LOOK!

STAR WARS REBELS and the Snaggletooth Quest

4th alwaysMay The 25th be with you! Belatedly of course. Seems the 40th Anniversary of the release of Episode 4 a New Hope slipped through my fingers like Star Systems through Governor Tarkin’s, as Leia said it would!

Anyway, Rebels series 3 has just finished, following Ezra Bridger and the rag-tag crew of the Ghost, a Millennium Falcon-type ship that seems to be part setting up ANH and the New Trilogy and part product-placement for Disney toys.

So after the climatic finale Zero Hour I watched Rogue One and A New Hope back-to-back, which was a great watch, though the ending of R1 was a bit abrupt, but tied in well to the start of ANH.

I’m playing the first Star Wars Battlefront game on the ps2 again, so I may have to blog that at some point!

I also went to Warrington Market Comic Con at the weekend, which was okay, but saw more toys for sale. I bought an AST-5 for five pounds at For the love of Sci-Fi in December, so have been looking at other stuff. The price of original Kenner-edition toys are bloody ridiculous though, you would think Lucasfilm would just remake them, but a bit better, especially Darth Vader. I must have had about half a dozen headless Vaders- looked like some kind-of Robot without a head!

the snaggletooth quest1

Anyway, I’ve since come to the conclusion that all this ‘collectability’ nonsense is just that. Looking out for a red or blue Snaggletooth that costs at least £80 is a bit of a ripoff. So I’m giving that quest up and just going to enjoy whatever happens with Rebels and The Last Jedi, though it will probably be about Luke giving up the Light and the dark and being like the Bendu, be the one in the middle.

One thing I did like was watching Boogie Storm- the dancing Stormtroopers, complete with Meco’s 70’s Disco theme!

Time to get groovy and Feel the funkyside of the Force!!

Anything can happen on a 360 shoot!

050Since Liverpool Comic Con, I have been trying to come up with a plan, a way of doing things differently than just going round taking random pictures and trying to edit everything into a semi-coherent video. In the end, I ended up with seven videos- The general walk around/’event’ vid, the Rwby shoot, the Star Wars shoot, My Superclark shoot, two versions of the Doctor Who shoot and three versions of the Cosplay Masquerade, plus Louise Brealey from Sherlock.

While moderately satisfied with the results, I did feel I needed to do something a bit different. I then remembered a guy at Ellesmere Port CC who shot a 360 degree video, which is like a composite of shots- I still don’t really understand how it works, but it got me thinking how could I achieve something similar?

Anime League and Rainbowdrop Cosplay organised another Big Geek Meet in Liverpool, which was my fourth in the two years I’ve been going to events/Cons/Meetups and so on. There was also a shoot in Southport, so I tried it out. Caitlin as Eren (mislabelled Levi) and me spinning round at BGM on the Saturday was okay, but doing individual shoots on Sunday worked much better, with about ten done.

I had to have a try myself to see how it worked, even though each shoot was only a minute or so, with added pictures and (mostly) relevant music. I am fairly happy with the results, so think I will carry on doing more of the same.

So, I guess Anything can Happen on a 360’ Shoot!
