Ian’s Travelblogs no more- Beyond 6th anniversary

tvp6aTigletverse Travel and Photography- update

I’ve been reading a bunch of old blogposts from 2011/2012. I did a lot of hiking back then, also writing up where I went to as well. That was before the video blogging, or Vlogging on Youtube.

I’ve never got the time these days, nor an organising principle to get myself, err, organised!

So, I merged both Tiglet’s Travels and ITA in 2016, creating Tigletverse Travel and Photography, with one Facebook page (please Like!) and not much up on Pinterest. BUT NOW ON FLICKR! With Wild Walks on the Welshside kicking off 2018- so far I have been to Wepre Park (twice), Flint Castle, Loggerheads, Llwyni ponds, Bailey Hill in Mold, Caergwrle Castle, Southport and a walk to Another Place for an Awesome sunset, Chester in the Snow and round St. George’s Hall for my Birthday and finally going round Spike Island in the fog one Monday morning, and that was all before Easter!

I have also been along the Bridgewater Canal- Preston Brook section, Etna Park with a bit of the Buckley Heritage Trail, Pex Hill and Blundell’s Hill after a job interview (which I didn’t get!) Liverpool Lightnight, including the performance by Bring the Fire Project. I also saw the Museum of the Moon, which is an artwork based on NASA photographs and seems to be on tour in several places at the same time. I have also taken a few pics of the real thing, along with Sun pictures, including New Brighton and West Kirby Marine Lake.

Event-wise, Wales Comic con was awesome, been to Liverpool museum and an amble round Chester on the Upton Scarecrow Trail.

I have been attempting to catch up on a mass of editing, of both photos but mainly videos, so hopefully will have caught up with those by the end of June, which will bring me to 500 videos, though the next episode of Dr. RRR’s Guide to the Whoniverses is going to be more complex than the Morbius one, so WHO knows when that’ll be completed!

So that’s it, that’s the big update for Spring and the Summer-so-far on the Hiking/Event front.

STAY GROOVY AND SMOOTHIE!

Events- FOR THE LOVE OF SCI-FI- Liverpool Comic Con Edition

033It was yet another manic Sunday as I headed off on an epic journey to the Echo Exhibition centre in Liverpool for a Regeneration of Liverpool comic con nearly three weeks ago.

When I heard that MCM had dropped Liverpool from its roster, I had hoped someone else might take over. Phil from Mersey Comic Con, the first CC event I went to at Liverpool Uni in 2015, OR Paul who put on the excellent Southport CC, or Dave from MSE, or Loz from Hamfest or Alistair from Chester or Jaime from Wales.

Stepping into the breach at the Exhibition centre was Andy who runs FOR THE LOVE OF SCI-FI weekend at Bowlers Exhibition Centre in Trafford Park, Manchester. FTLOSF was the best CC of 2016. A perfect way to end the year. I got so many pictures and enough clips that ended up in about half a dozen videos, including two episodes of Dr. RRR and the cosplay group shoot. Funtimes.

December 2017 was less fun. I had wanted to go Saturday and then Wales CC Sunday, but Saturday had sold out because William Shatner was there, so went Sunday. It was a bit cramped and overcrowded, it didn’t help there was queues all over, so I took what photos I could and went back for Movie Wonderland at the end of Christmas, which was like a ghost town, but much better for shooting videos!

Anyway, the week before the event I had strained a muscle in my leg and had been limping to work, so Saturday rested it.

I thought it was much better Sunday, but as I walked up the steps there was a massive spasm and it was painful hobbling round. Think I might have overdone it a bit! Even sitting down for lunch (at £10 for fries, 5 pieces of chicken and a 7up) it still ached, so got a few interviews, although the background chatter was still noisy, but then, the upstairs lounge area wasn’t available this time. I hope that changes for next year. The Arena Stage wasn’t used either, might have been because there was a Gymnastics event on, but I hope the stage area might be moved back in there next time.

So, for a first attempt it was really good, shame I couldn’t enjoy it more as my leg was being such a pain, both figuratively and literally!

I think though there should be a Thunderbirds exhibit next time, as Andy and his team did jump in just like International Rescue

Thanks to Christian W, Andy T and Thomas H for the interviews.

Thanks to Delroy, Mark, and all the Cosplayers!

Thanks Paul, Nic, Sheikh and other stallholders/exhibitors

Thanks to the Andy and the Organisers for rescuing it. And Exhibition Centre staff for hosting.

Also- my favourite moment was being on a Colonial Turbine- the flying bike from Galactica 1980- Thanks Mark, Kev and Phil!

A TIGLETVERSE PRESENTATION 2018

INFINITE WHONIVERSES – series 5 prelude 4

THE TIMEDALEK INVASION OF LIVERPOOL PART TWO- AFTERMATH!

15th Neo doctor – THE TIMEDALEK INVASION OF LIVERPOOL PART 2- AFTERMATH

Over the last year or so, I’ve been working on ideas for IW and ending the series. August 2016 I wrapped up series4 killing off the 14th NeoDoctor and him regenerating into a Female Incarnation. I had a few ideas for a successor, primarily a shoot on Geek Girls featuring Moira Lafae as the Fourth Doctor. It should have been easy, but I had to get the follow-up written, which has taken a little bit longer than planned, (yeah, a year in fact!) I had planned last March, then the summer, then winter 2017, but adding and changing things meant it kept getting pushed back. Then I had to get permission off the photographers, which took a bit longer, as there were three credited, but one I couldn’t figure out. In the end it just made sense for me to find someone I had photographed and get them on board the STARDIS!

Enter Annie, who I met at MCM Liverpool a year ago

The Burning Skies Cosplay group is a bunch of Doctor Who cosplayers on Facebook, from all over the world, but based mainly in the UK. I’ve been to a couple of their shoots, which have been such fun. So, once Annie had agreed, I had to crop the photos and then sort out the covers- and voila!  The 15th Neodoctor is here at last!

Now I’ve got to figure out what to do for the multiple/multiversal Doctor mashup for the finale of Series 5, oh what joy!

In the meantime- here it is at last- THE TIMEDALEK INVASION OF LIVERPOOL PART TWO- AFTERMATH!

Happy reading!

Events- CHESTER WRITERS @ CHESTER LITERATURE FESTIVAL 2017

cwa17bIf you go down to the Storyhouse in Chester tomorrow, then you’ll be in for A BIG SURPRISE, as the Teddy Bears picnic nursery rhyme goes.

It’s one more sleep til Xmas. Erh, nope, sorry, not quite! One more sleep til the Chester Writers Anthology debut at the Storyhouse is what I mean! Then I will take to the stage for the debut of ‘The Case of the Missing Mince Pies’. I had thought of reading it in the style of Tommy Cooper’s Hat Sketch, but that would be too confusing and I’ll never be able to pull it off anyway, so I will just have to read the story as it is written!

So it should be fun! Tickets are £5, including a copy of the Anthology and hopefully the weather won’t be too bad. The events on indoors anyway in the Garrett Theatre, so what the hey!

7th Blogversary

anniversary-2x7th blogversary

I know it’s a few days late, but that’s life at the moment, things not getting done and it seems to take FOREVER to get stuff updated. I am finally catching up on pictures for Tigletverse Facebook page, videos updated- no chance! I have submitted eight short stories this month, the most at one time, and yes, there’s been a rejection already, ah well, Ce la vie!

 stranger_things_poster

In amidst the entire editing/tidying/sorting/recycling etc I have started painting/modelling again- a Dalek for Infinite Whoniverses- The OmniStrategist and a Snowspeeder kit, which I’ve broke the engine off, so need glue to fix it. Gotten into Game of Thrones series 7, and Stranger Things series 1, and the soundtrack rocks, well, it’s Synthwave, so ish!

Anyway, there’s a bit of an update, still plodding along. My new academic diary from Sept17 to july18 says ‘plan the work and work the plan’ which is great advice. Just need to find a plan now that works!

Hi ho, let’s get to it then- Happy 7th Blogversary!

The New Doctor’s got ‘The Look”!

“My Successor? It could even be a Woman. There’s no reason why The Doctor should always be a Man”

Tom Baker on his ‘retirement’ from the role of Doctor Who.

(Quoted from Regeneration- The Mystery of Ages. The Time Travellers Guide by Peter Haining. 1987. (1995 edition))

15th doctor JW

So I have finally posted the video I made shortly after the announcement of Jodie Whittaker being cast as the new Doctor.

I didn’t want to get into the whole argument of whether it’s a good move, but you know it is really, so just accept it.

Anyway, Regeneration 101 will go into the whole mechanics of how a sex-change Regeneration works, and there has been precedent, not just over the last couple of years but in the classic series too. Tom Baker himself said why not, and there’s even been a XenoRegeneration (Species-change) I’m also going to explain why the numbering is wrong and get into that as well, oh joy!

But for now, just enjoy my video and the hints of what’s to come in both Doctor Who and Infinite Whoniverses series 5! (Although, Independence is late by a month, with the FemDr and Elise, so that’s almost ready!)

Nanananaa, she’s got THE LOOK!

Autumn 2015- sort of, because it’s now Winter 2017!

autumn2015I went back to University last year, just on the Open Day to ask if there were any plans to actually print the Autumn 2015 Anthology. Next thing I know, it’s been taken off the website!

Anyway, it’s back online now. I think the funding for a print version fell through which was why it was put online in the first place. Even though the University has its own Publishing House.

My short story ‘A Riot in the Library’ is part of a collection of mainly poetry, and can be found on Pages 57-62. Though I wish I’d have written something better for the biographical section! Though looking back it seems the Editor copied it from one of my CV’s! Oh well, never mind Seamus!

Have to say I didn’t initially like the two-column layout at first, but think it’s grown on me.

Think there might be more life to the adventures of Sammy the Squirrel and Pat the Polar Bear, just have to wait and see won’t we boys and girls?!!

Now it’s just a case of seeing if the University will publish something else in the not-too distant future.

And here’s the link again to Inquisition, just in case you missed it the first or even second time!
