Autumn Events- SEPTEMBER 18 ROUNDUP

Firstly I went to the Guardians of the Galleries event in Wigan, snapping shots like a Hungry Hippo (the game, not the animal!) Paul Prescot and the team behind Bolton Comic Con did it again with a Con set in a market. The First mini-con of the autumn season saw me on the bus to Wigan, cos the trains were on strike.

Getting there wasn’t the problem, strolling round the Galleries was at times a bit of a squeeze, but enjoyable, doing a few mini shoots with the Wigan Ghostbusters, Buck Rogers and Twiki and so on.

Then, because of the Rail Strike, took a bus back to St. Helens and caught a bus to Liverpool, which actually didn’t take as long as I thought it would. I had been to the Bluecoat and begun the Biennial Art trail, as well as doing architectural shots of old buildings, so wandered round Pierhead, caught a few shots of the River Mersey, the Art Fair and then joined the gathering of Bring the Fire Project for their session.  After their performance on the steps of St. Georges Hall on Lightnight in May, I’ve been hoping to see Bring the Fire project in action again. I missed their last Fire session in Sefton Park, so knew I had to try and make an effort to see them again.

I got to do a bit of juggling, tried a couple of new tricks, and was a bit rusty (try very) but it was great just to have a go. I had just begun learning the basics about Twenty eight years ago, when a few people in Runcorn park did some fire juggling. I’ve never really progressed much. Then I got to see them rehearse as well as run a kid’s workshop, putting my efforts to shame.

Then finally it was Showtime.

Getting dark helped as the group lit their props up and performed their routines flawlessly. I also juggled two cameras filming and photographing, so that was interesting.

It was a good night. A few blurry pictures, but with fire the results are always intriquing.

Next was the Liverpool Pirate Festival at Albert Dock- Ahoy there Peri Parrott! This year I did spend more time there, following the Mermaid Parade and trying to get shots from different Angles (Special mention to the Doorman at Revolution Cuba bar for letting me stand on the wall!) Highlight of the day was the full-sized Parrot at The Maritime Museum as well as the insane amount of Pirate paraphernalia at With Love From Liverpool and Nauticalia shops!

Finally, I returned to Chester Comic Con for a second time, having missed 2017 (though I had gone to the promo shoot the week before, oddly enough!)

This was shockingly confusing as I walked round to the Racecourse Pavilion and it was empty! I didn’t know it had been moved into the centre of the Racecourse, so that was a bit of a discombobulating experience.

I did manage to get a few pictures, even one of me with the Ewoks! Peri Parrot made her first Convention appearance, along with Tig 2 and got to shoot with Order 66 and a few Heroes and villains!

Thanks to Stu, Damo and the gang for another delightfully fun day out!

I have also been shooting the Moon, half/full and early morning, so will have to start editing videos at some point. I’ve also been hiking round Woodhouse and Helsby Hill and along Cycleway Route 5 from Chester all the way to Connah’s Quay, so will have to get those edited as well- oh joy!

INFINITE WHONIVERSES 4TH ANNIVERSARY

IW 4TH ANNIVERSARY- YAY!!

Mr. Tiglet's Blog

IW55THIt occurred to me that I haven’t actually planned anything for the IW Fourth Anniversary this weekend; in fact this is a bit of a last-minute blogpost itself.

The story intended- THE ARTEFACT I’ve changed a few details of and may either be the 55th Special or Christmas story, Who knows?

So, the Series 5 finale is up next week- a couple of changes, but the end is the same as when I initially planned it for the end of 2016. So I am looking forward to presenting that next week- in the meantime, here’s the very first post from 2014-

ANOTHER CHANCE FOR STAR WARS?

ANOTHER CHANCE FOR STAR WARS?4th always

A DOZEN IDEAS TO REVATILISE THE FRANCHISE, GET IT BACK ON TRACK AND MAKE IT FUN AGAIN!

Lucasfilm has been wrecking Star wars, or rather Kathleen Kennedy’s Political/Feminist agenda has. But all is not quite lost; there is a spark of hope out there.

The whole concept behind it was good versus evil and overcoming that evil. That arises out of despair and anguish like a Phoenix rising from the ashes.

That simple premise has been forgotten by KK and her cronies. THAT is why there has been a fan rebellion and both Last Jedi and Solo were complete failures.

With the ‘Original Trilogy’ there were several factors crucial to its success- strong characters male and female- though they were few/ the Hero’s Journey, although I wasn’t aware of the story structure at the time/allusions to the Second World War, the Roman Empire, the seven Samurai, even Laurel and Hardy with the droids. We even get a David vs Goliath with Luke taking on the Death Star in his X-Wing.

These latest ones lack consistency- like runny porridge, you know it’s been rushed and not cooked properly. Force Awakens/Lost Jedi/Solo have been flawed by bad writing, inconsistent direction, bureaucratic interference and micro management.

Paradoxically, Rebels and Rogue One have been flawless, well-written and well made. “Rebellions are made on Hope” Jyn said, quoting Cassian. So here we go- A dozen ideas-

  1. Sabine’s quest to find Ezra after Endor. There you go, a simple premise and taking a well-rounded Female Lead character off to rescue her male friend- the White (and purple/blue) Knight-ess off to rescue her Prince- there’s a subversion of the traditional fairy tale for Kathy.
  2. Bounty Hunters. One of the mooted Live-action series ideas that got shelved when Disney took over. Grim, gritty and maybe gruesome- not sugar-coated sweetness that Disney execs are used to- let’s see some Underworld action!
  3. Darth Vader/the 501st Legion. Having Vader as the Lead/focus is a great opportunity for Drama- he’s an iconic villain, his appearance in Rogue One and fight at the end really elevated the ending, so let’s see the CONFLICT- the shades of grey between darkness and light Luke saw in ROTJ, let’s see him waver, make him go to Naboo, visit Amidala’s grave and do some silent grieving.
  4. Smugglers. Here’s your Sitcom – Friends/Big Bang Theory in space! There’s a story in one of the Tales graphic novels of an Imperial Captain on a Star Destroyer who intercepts a Corellian Corvette, piloted by Han and Chewie. They inspect the ship, find no evidence of contraband, so let them go. A week later, the Corvette with Han and Chewie again, so inspect, find nothing, let it go, but he suspects there’s something not quite right. A week later, same ship and crew- so the Captain searches thoroughly- nothing. He has no choice but to let them go. Then he realises, it’s not the same ship, they’ve been smuggling Corvettes! A great tale and possibly something worth considering.
  5. Rebels Series 5. They’re still going, so why not continue the adventures of The Ghost or crew- Scariff/Yavin/Hoth/Endor. Or have a different ship or crew? No one cares about Resistance, so why not go back and carry on this? Doesn’t make sense Disney/Lucasfilm.
  6. Explorers. Something Star Trekky, out in the Unknown Regions.
  7. 80’s Comic Adaptations. There were some strange crazy adventures Luke and co had in between the movies. Let’s have the Hoojibs and Jaxx for a change!
  8. A Time Travel series? Okay, there’s thousands of years in the old EU Timeline, but Luke does ask threepio if he can “alter time, speed up the harvest or teleport me off this rock”, so at least there are a few SF stories in the galaxy!
  9. The Thrawn Trilogy. I didn’t read it when it first came out, but this is an awesome continuation of the Saga.
  10. Infinities. The Darkhorse comics did something very brave, different and risky- something execs at Disney and Lucasfilm should sit up and take notice of- a Reinterpretation of the Original trilogy. I even had my own idea- The Tatooine Rebellion. Inspired by Tales from Mos Eisley Cantina and using Steve Sansweets Encyclopaedia, I charted how each of the background characters would react and which side they would fight for if the start of ANH took a slightly different turn, with the Tantive 4 crashing into the Dune Sea and Leia and the droids hiding while Vader led a legion of Stormtroopers down. Interestingly, the first Battlefront game on PS2 had a Dune Sea and Mos Eisley level- great fun!
  11. Storming the Dead. One of those happy accidents that sometimes happen when I went to Hamfest-Oldham Comic con last year. Spectre Squad, a cosplay/costuming group were there, along with some painted props/sets, including a door saying ‘don’t open, dead inside’ so I had the idea of Stormtroopers going in, so set up a mini-photoshoot with several of the guys posing in front. When I got home, I saw the footage and was inspired to make a Walking Dead/Star Wars crossover, so had to have Tiglet narrate it- great fun!          https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vI0hQg8BE6w
  12. ANOTHER CHANCE. When you think about it, the destruction of Alderaan in ANH is the most heinous crime you could think of- the murder of millions of people echoes real life crimes like The Holocaust/911/Darfur/Pearl Harbour. As leia said, it is the most desperate hour, echoed by Obi Wans line- “millions of voices crying out in terror and were suddenly silenced, I fear something terrible has happened” The saga’s most chilling moment, more chilling than Order 66. I get goosebumps and shivers. Battlestar Galactica has done it, but in Star Wars, the survivors are spread out across the galaxy. Like Games of Thrones, it is an epic tale of betrayal/survival from several viewpoints in different places. There have been hints of a persecution of Alderaani survivors in Inferno Squad and a graphic novel about Leia, but a series like this would be awesome.         So, there you go Lucasfilm/Disney- less Mary Poppins in space and more Drama! Make Star Wars great again!   IW- bad feeling

Tiglet moving to Sesame Street???

Well, he wishes! Sesame Studios are looking for new ideas, so what could be newer than a talking Tiger (that isn’t Tony or Tigger bouncing everywhere?) So after a few days of mulling it over, I put a pitch together, watched a couple of their Youtube videos and reminisced about Bert and Ernie, The Count and the Cookie Monster, who are all still going, along with Big Bird and a few new characters.

The obvious thing to pitch was THE TIGLET SHOW! My attempt five years ago to do something Muppet-like. As Experimental No-Budget Filmmaking goes, this did stretch the budget!

Oh my Geeky Goddess! Where did I come up with this? WHY? Yes, I have actually gone back to watch it and it was experimental, (maybe emphasis on mental?) making it by myself had its challenges, you can tell I was running out of ideas by the third episode, not sure stitching together previously made videos worked either. Two things I was pleased about were Professor Von Ool and then the GrumpyCats, with their sarcy Waldorf and Statler-like comments at the end.

So, it’s all done and pitched. I attached my Creativity and Imagination playlist from Youtube and it’s just a matter of seeing what happens, if anything.

I know I blogged sometime last summer about how Darci Farmer blew me away with her ventriloquism on America’s got talent last year, but maybe I do need to light a fire underneath the Puppetry again. Maybe try and make an original puppet and see who else I can rope into it. Come up with a new project. Things like Avenue Q and the Happytime Murders are a bit too-adult-like, it’s things like The Muppets, The Storyteller, Fraggle Rock, even Labyrinth and Dark Crystal I’m more interested in.

Anyhoo, I’ve started planning the sequel to Tiglet’s Time Travels, titled Tiglet’s Time Wars, funnily enough- cos, like, it’s a sequel and there’s temporal shenanigans going on all over the multiverses. I did think of putting in ideas from my aborted Star Trek Fan Film- Preservation, plus stuff I thought up for Infinite Whoniverses and a kids Time Travel show- there’s an idea- kids and puppets, like a junior Farscape, that’s the way to do it! (As Punch would say!)

Anyway, a week’s gone by since I made my pitch, so no news is good news, right? Probably not, but I live in a perpetual state of Hope, even if it is the false kind.

The timeroads travelled so far…

SERIES 1-

In an Infinite number of Whoniverses, where possibilities and Alternatives play out, The 13th NeoGallifreyan Doctor wakes from the Matrix and flees with Star in the STARDIS as The Master leads a Dalek Occupation.

In another Whoniverse, the 9TH TimeLady Doctor, the Last of the Timeladies, arrives in a Commune under siege by a different version of the Centuroids. Davius helps her restore power to the Sanctuary System, though she is poisoned by radiation and regenerates into her 10th Incarnation.

Mr. Tiglet briefly travels with the 10th Doctor (Eccleston) before falling asleep in Mr. Mercer’s attic and hibernating.

The Cult of Davros is sighted in Chester, so Agent Korrina of the BTA is sent to investigate.

Kai-El, the Last of the CyberKryptonions saves the day as Dr. RRR! meets five monster’s and manages to outwit them all.

SERIES 2-

The Inferno Doctor, a mirror of the 3rd Doctor meets Sarah Jane Sullivan as Project Inferno spirals out of control. They evacuate as a cataclysmic chain reaction devastates the world’s surface.

Elsewhen, in a World Without The Doctor, the Robots of Death, led by Taren Capel seize control of Storm Mine 4 and a Robot Revolution on Kaldoria begins.

In a Prelude to ‘Battlefield’ in the Arthurian Realm, Morgaine becomes jealous when Merlin takes her place as Arthur’s Advisor, then learns of Arthur’s betrothal to Guinevere. She is enraged and starts down a Dark Path in her quest for vengeance.

An Alternate 8th Doctor finishes a Timewar against a Slug-like enemy and imprisons them in the Pandoriatrix.

The STARDIS crew enters the Time Rider Reality through holes in the Dimensional wall and help Sal and others trapped in Chaos Space.

They leave, sealing up the holes, but something else has fallen through to 1st Century Jerusalem.

The Last of the TimeLadies shows Davius the destruction of her home and the betrayal of The Mistress of Lies.

SERIES 3-

The Infernoverse Master conquers Gallifrey with the Daleks and draws the Inferno Doctor into a trap as Gallifrey dies. The Master is atomised and the Doctor shot by a Dalek. Will he survive?

The Cult of Davros is sighted in Liverpool and Intervention Agents rescue Korrina.

Dr. RRR! Beats The Feline Masterrr at a chocolate Invasion, then a TimeDalek Incursion of Widnes and goes on a Grailquest across the Whoniverses.

The Temporal Adjustment Bureau sees the dangers of a new Jagaroth Empire, so sends the 4th Doctor to Paris to stop Scaroth changing history.

The War Doctor/9th Doctor (Hurt) is ambushed by a Dalek Squad, so leads them to the Centuroid Wars in order to destroy them.

Taking Davius home, the Timelady 10th Doctor sets off on a quest but falls into a trap set by The Mistress of Lies and regenerates.

The 4th Doctor boldly goes where he’s never been before as he crosses over to an alternate timeline to help the Timeship Tempest get back on track.

After arriving in the Gallifreyan Intergalactic Federation, The STARDIS crew are taken prisoner. The NeoGallifreyan Doctor regenerates into his 14th life and Tori uses her powers to stop a Screamer, like an Interdimensional Shark from tearing the universe apart.

The Timewars will escalate into OMNIWARS as The Supreme Obliterator TimeDalek remembers his previous life as A Doctor and shuts down every Centuroid Armada across the Whoniverses.

Doctors collide as the new 11th TimeLady Doctor meets the 14th NeoGallifreyan Doctor and the STARDIS crew. They help her leave her Reality for good.

The STARDIS is captured by the evil and twisted forces of the Interdimensional Gallifreyan Inquisition.

Tortured and interrogated, The NeoDoctor realises the identity of the Supreme Inquisitor-

He is The Dark Doctor, the Abomination, The Time Ripper, the Beast, The Valeyard.

The 14th NeoDoctor’s nightmare is just beginning.

SERIES4-

In A World Without the Doctor, The CyberLeader struggles to make sense of the ripples through time and two sets of Pre-Conversion memories.

Roarilon wants Dr RRR, but gets The Masterr instead, meanwhile Dr. RRr and The Surgeon have fun then part ways.

The Omnilords rescue The NeoDoctor and other Alternate Doctors and burn the Inquisition down, although The Dark Doctor escapes.

In another World without the Doctor, Rose Tyler faces the Mannequin monsters with the help of Osgood.

Dr RRR goes on a quest for the Omnimatrix as Dr. Ool is introduced.

The Last of the TimeLadies meets the Obliterator Master.

In the Season 4 Finale, The NeoDoctor, Star and Tori face a Dalek Invasion of Liverpool and the fall and Regeneration of the 14th Incarnation- Nothing will ever be the same again!
