FUN FACTOID NO.1- NOODLES!

pexels-photo-1028734.jpegFUN FACTOID NO.1- NOODLES!

Think I might need to spice the blog up a bit. So one thing I think I might do each week is try to find something to rave or rant about. This Week-

NOODLES BABY!

Maybe I listen too much to Steve Wrights Radio 2 show, or watch Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, but I think one thing I would find difficult to give up if there’s ever an Alien Invasion or Zombie Apocalypse, or I somehow find myself stranded on a Desert Island- is noodles. Why- I don’t know, I had some for tea the other day, the Chicken variety, and it’s something I thought of. The Spicy stir-fry is awesome, but you need plenty of water/juice to wash it down with.

Anyway, just something I thought I’d share!

Events- Liverpool MCM COMIC CON 2017- SUPERCLARK 3- Coming Soon!

DSCF0126So after two dozen Comic book Conventions/meetups and photoshoots last year, I’m off to the third event of 2017- MCM Comic Con-Liverpool, for BOTH days, not just one like last year.

Ellesmere Port Comic Con was great, I’m still working on photos, but getting EPCC and the Liverpool Cosplay Meet in January videos edited and uploaded was epic in itself. I made three versions of LCM with different music. The version uploaded featured Lindsey Stirling and Lzzy Hale from Halestorm and ‘Shatter me’. If that didn’t work, as backup I had Nami Kichi’s Cover versions of Brave Shine from Fate Stay/Night and Ignite from Sword Art Online 2.

For EPCC it was a general vid of the event and 360 shoot, then a video of the Cosplay Contest.

It was a comment off Ironman at EP that made me think I need to make another attempt at Superman/Clark Kent, so I have been planning a bit in advance, which makes a change from making things up as I go along like I normally do!

Anyway, that is the plan- Saturday Clark Kent, roving Reporter for the Daily Planet will be around, and then on Sunday I’ll need to find a Jimmy Olsen to film me doing my Super-thing!

Should be FUN!

Thanks also to Thomas Hulks as Professor Zoom/Reverse Flash!

VDay Blog- Courting Controversy

Here’s something el-presidente might tweet-

Lets play a game shall we? Just for fun.

Let’s call it ‘The Regeneration Game’. It’s a game any Doctor Who Fan can play, or writer/producer/actor, showrunner, whatever. You just have to lose the ability to count. Forget any ability to do simple maths, be a two year old just confused about this weird thing called ‘numbers’.

Actually, it’s a game Stephen Moffat invented, round about the time when he should’ve stepped down and done just Sherlock and Tintin rather than try juggling all three. (and dropping the ball on Who!)

Anyhoo, this is it- the only courting I’m gonna do on Valentine’s day- yes, SHE’S BACK BABY! A hot date with a Red-hot B^*%$! With a bad-A&%$ attitude- so watch out! Obi-Don Drumphioli never got as controversial as me and Miss C.

So, watch out, as we play THE REGENERATION GAME- Coming sooner than expected, or even wanted!

HAPPY VDAY!- WITH FLOWERS!

Autumn 2015- sort of, because it’s now Winter 2017!

autumn2015I went back to University last year, just on the Open Day to ask if there were any plans to actually print the Autumn 2015 Anthology. Next thing I know, it’s been taken off the website!

Anyway, it’s back online now. I think the funding for a print version fell through which was why it was put online in the first place. Even though the University has its own Publishing House.

My short story ‘A Riot in the Library’ is part of a collection of mainly poetry, and can be found on Pages 57-62. Though I wish I’d have written something better for the biographical section! Though looking back it seems the Editor copied it from one of my CV’s! Oh well, never mind Seamus!

Have to say I didn’t initially like the two-column layout at first, but think it’s grown on me.

Think there might be more life to the adventures of Sammy the Squirrel and Pat the Polar Bear, just have to wait and see won’t we boys and girls?!!

Autumn 2015– Edited by Seamus May

Now it’s just a case of seeing if the University will publish something else in the not-too distant future.

And here’s the link again to Inquisition, just in case you missed it the first or even second time!

5 REASONS I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO ROGUE 1

star-wars-anthology-rogue-one-ca-310x165

1)The Original Opening Crawl intro-

“IT IS A PERIOD OF CIVIL WAR. REBEL SPACESHIPS, STRIKING FROM A HIDDEN BASE HAVE WON THEIR FIRST VICTORY AGAINST THE EVIL GALACTIC EMPIRE.

DURING THE BATTLE, REBEL SPIES MANAGED TO STEAL SECRET PLANS TO THE EMPIRE’S SECRET WEAPON, THE DEATH STAR, AN ARMOURED SPACE STATION WITH ENOUGH POWER TO DESTROY AN ENTIRE PLANET”

Star wars 1977 original opening crawl text.

So, here it is, 39 years later- the film based on that background text that introduced the very first Star Wars movie, later renamed A New Hope and the Fourth Episode of a projected nine. It’s got a heap of expectations on it though.

2) Hints in other media-

There was a radio play set beforehand and some of the novels had their own interpretation. The Han Solo Trilogy by AC Crispin told of a raid on Toprawa by Bria Tharen and Red Hand Squad. Battlefront 2 on the PS2 had a breakout on the Death Star and plans transmitted to Polis Massa and then the Tantive 4. So this would be the fourth version, since Disney took over and everything written beforehand has been shunted into a parallel universe, giving them a blank slate. (Although Grand Admiral Thrawn is turning up in Rebels series 3, which means they haven’t jettisoned everything like a load of Spice from the spice mines of Kessel then)

3) “That’s no moon, it’s a space station”

Obi Wans ominous recognition of the sheer, err enormity of the problem facing them is played well. The look of horror on his face as the Millennium Falcon approaches the Death Star is priceless- Immense, powerful, the ultimate power in the universe! About time it was revisited, shiny and new!

4) Obi Wan’s Narration over The First Trailer-

“For a thousand Generations the Jedi were the Guardians of peace and justice in the Old Republic. Before the Dark Times, before The Empire.”

As a Tie Fighter soars over a jungle, the outline of the Death Star is seen for the first time- an iconic image and one that sent a shiver up my spine! The trailers since then have built upon that, as well as giving more tantalising glimpses into the characters (and ships/vehicles- the AT-AT’s are back!)

5) There’s more to come!

If I was going to be cynical, then I’d say since taking over the franchise, Disney has upped its marketing and merchandising, milking the SW cashcow for all it’s worth.

Well, I won’t. Like I stated earlier, Lucasfilm has created a blank slate between Return of the Jedi and The New Trilogy. Rebels has been pretty good. The Live-action series has yet to materialise, but a number of spin-off/stand alone films has been announced. Boba Fett, Han Solo and even Yoda are getting their own films, but I’d love to see some of the Beings from the Cantina get their own film- Muftak the Talz or a Snaggletooth movie! Yeah, that could work- explore the difference between the tall blue snaggletooth’s and the smaller red ones! Maybe the red support the Empire and the rarer blues the Rebellion maybe?

Come on Lucasfilm, get it done!

699th Post- Tiglet’s Time Wars- The Next big thing of 2017??

ttw-poster-1It’s reached that point again, thinking, well, what haven’t I done this year that could be doable next year? Can I achieve it, is it a realistic goal?

Maybe, maybe not, I haven’t the foggiest (as Michael Caine’s version of Sherlock Holmes said in ‘Without a Clue’)

One thing I have held back from is getting round to the sequel to Tiglet’s Time Travels from 2012-2014. I have planned a trailer for a follow-up, but it’s not been a priority. I do want to make more live-action videos, get away from just hikes and puppetry, but this could make a nice mix.

So, Tiglet’s Time Wars- coming soon!

As for my 700th Blogpost- well, as Monty Python used to say, it’s time for something completely different!!

Anything can happen Tuesday- Scouse Drama and Dessert in Liverpool

anything-can-happen-tuesdays-1Anything Can Happen Tuesday seems to be turning into a reluctant/if I’m only bothered thing, not the epic hiking/trying new things and going new places originally envisaged back in September. That’s my own fault, I readily admit. I guess I have recently realised that I am stuck in a rut and nothing’s really changing. It’s not for lack of trying though; I just seem to be hitting a brick wall whichever way I turn.

One thing that is happening is when I go to Liverpool Network Theatre workshops and anything does happen, whether it’s pretending to be unruly 5 year olds at the dinner table, or in this case, trying and failing to do a reading of Boys from the Black Stuff and totally failing to do even a passable scouse accent. You’d have thought spending most of my time in Liverpool, even living there for 5 years, studying and occasionally working in the city, I’d have been able to master it. NOPE, nada, nothing going, bottom of the Class and sounding mostly brummie. Great, not the effect I was going for!

Actually, my own lineage and upbringing might have something to do with it. Dad from Widnes and Mum from Birmingham. Born in Whiston, part of Merseyside, but used to be Lancashire, A Woolyback with Irish and Welsh ancestry (and maybe a bit of Scots but not gone that far back yet, that was just a theory of my Mum’s I think) and some vocal training and Speech Therapy for eight years. But then, hold on Mr. M, what about all the puppetry I’ve been doing? The Tiglet Show had a dozen characters and Dr. Rrr and so on have all stretched my capabilities somewhat.

Anyhoo, accents I do need to work on, Professor Von Ool and Doc Bear will be featured more in Dr Rrr series 2. I can’t do a female voice for toffee, so need to ask some of my Actor friends if they want to do that (also Female Daleks/Zauria, 12thTimelady Dr and other characters I may think of) But I will make a bit more effort (or effat, Laaa!) and see if it is something I could master. (Or just give up on!)

Oh, and what about Dessert? Yes, went to the pub and got a strawberry Cone, very nice indeed, thank you for asking!
