INFINITE WHONIVERSES 4TH ANNIVERSARY

IW 4TH ANNIVERSARY- YAY!!

Mr. Tiglet's Blog

IW55THIt occurred to me that I haven’t actually planned anything for the IW Fourth Anniversary this weekend; in fact this is a bit of a last-minute blogpost itself.

The story intended- THE ARTEFACT I’ve changed a few details of and may either be the 55th Special or Christmas story, Who knows?

So, the Series 5 finale is up next week- a couple of changes, but the end is the same as when I initially planned it for the end of 2016. So I am looking forward to presenting that next week- in the meantime, here’s the very first post from 2014-

ANOTHER CHANCE FOR STAR WARS?

ANOTHER CHANCE FOR STAR WARS?4th always

A DOZEN IDEAS TO REVATILISE THE FRANCHISE, GET IT BACK ON TRACK AND MAKE IT FUN AGAIN!

Lucasfilm has been wrecking Star wars, or rather Kathleen Kennedy’s Political/Feminist agenda has. But all is not quite lost; there is a spark of hope out there.

The whole concept behind it was good versus evil and overcoming that evil. That arises out of despair and anguish like a Phoenix rising from the ashes.

That simple premise has been forgotten by KK and her cronies. THAT is why there has been a fan rebellion and both Last Jedi and Solo were complete failures.

With the ‘Original Trilogy’ there were several factors crucial to its success- strong characters male and female- though they were few/ the Hero’s Journey, although I wasn’t aware of the story structure at the time/allusions to the Second World War, the Roman Empire, the seven Samurai, even Laurel and Hardy with the droids. We even get a David vs Goliath with Luke taking on the Death Star in his X-Wing.

These latest ones lack consistency- like runny porridge, you know it’s been rushed and not cooked properly. Force Awakens/Lost Jedi/Solo have been flawed by bad writing, inconsistent direction, bureaucratic interference and micro management.

Paradoxically, Rebels and Rogue One have been flawless, well-written and well made. “Rebellions are made on Hope” Jyn said, quoting Cassian. So here we go- A dozen ideas-

  1. Sabine’s quest to find Ezra after Endor. There you go, a simple premise and taking a well-rounded Female Lead character off to rescue her male friend- the White (and purple/blue) Knight-ess off to rescue her Prince- there’s a subversion of the traditional fairy tale for Kathy.
  2. Bounty Hunters. One of the mooted Live-action series ideas that got shelved when Disney took over. Grim, gritty and maybe gruesome- not sugar-coated sweetness that Disney execs are used to- let’s see some Underworld action!
  3. Darth Vader/the 501st Legion. Having Vader as the Lead/focus is a great opportunity for Drama- he’s an iconic villain, his appearance in Rogue One and fight at the end really elevated the ending, so let’s see the CONFLICT- the shades of grey between darkness and light Luke saw in ROTJ, let’s see him waver, make him go to Naboo, visit Amidala’s grave and do some silent grieving.
  4. Smugglers. Here’s your Sitcom – Friends/Big Bang Theory in space! There’s a story in one of the Tales graphic novels of an Imperial Captain on a Star Destroyer who intercepts a Corellian Corvette, piloted by Han and Chewie. They inspect the ship, find no evidence of contraband, so let them go. A week later, the Corvette with Han and Chewie again, so inspect, find nothing, let it go, but he suspects there’s something not quite right. A week later, same ship and crew- so the Captain searches thoroughly- nothing. He has no choice but to let them go. Then he realises, it’s not the same ship, they’ve been smuggling Corvettes! A great tale and possibly something worth considering.
  5. Rebels Series 5. They’re still going, so why not continue the adventures of The Ghost or crew- Scariff/Yavin/Hoth/Endor. Or have a different ship or crew? No one cares about Resistance, so why not go back and carry on this? Doesn’t make sense Disney/Lucasfilm.
  6. Explorers. Something Star Trekky, out in the Unknown Regions.
  7. 80’s Comic Adaptations. There were some strange crazy adventures Luke and co had in between the movies. Let’s have the Hoojibs and Jaxx for a change!
  8. A Time Travel series? Okay, there’s thousands of years in the old EU Timeline, but Luke does ask threepio if he can “alter time, speed up the harvest or teleport me off this rock”, so at least there are a few SF stories in the galaxy!
  9. The Thrawn Trilogy. I didn’t read it when it first came out, but this is an awesome continuation of the Saga.
  10. Infinities. The Darkhorse comics did something very brave, different and risky- something execs at Disney and Lucasfilm should sit up and take notice of- a Reinterpretation of the Original trilogy. I even had my own idea- The Tatooine Rebellion. Inspired by Tales from Mos Eisley Cantina and using Steve Sansweets Encyclopaedia, I charted how each of the background characters would react and which side they would fight for if the start of ANH took a slightly different turn, with the Tantive 4 crashing into the Dune Sea and Leia and the droids hiding while Vader led a legion of Stormtroopers down. Interestingly, the first Battlefront game on PS2 had a Dune Sea and Mos Eisley level- great fun!
  11. Storming the Dead. One of those happy accidents that sometimes happen when I went to Hamfest-Oldham Comic con last year. Spectre Squad, a cosplay/costuming group were there, along with some painted props/sets, including a door saying ‘don’t open, dead inside’ so I had the idea of Stormtroopers going in, so set up a mini-photoshoot with several of the guys posing in front. When I got home, I saw the footage and was inspired to make a Walking Dead/Star Wars crossover, so had to have Tiglet narrate it- great fun!          https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vI0hQg8BE6w
  12. ANOTHER CHANCE. When you think about it, the destruction of Alderaan in ANH is the most heinous crime you could think of- the murder of millions of people echoes real life crimes like The Holocaust/911/Darfur/Pearl Harbour. As leia said, it is the most desperate hour, echoed by Obi Wans line- “millions of voices crying out in terror and were suddenly silenced, I fear something terrible has happened” The saga’s most chilling moment, more chilling than Order 66. I get goosebumps and shivers. Battlestar Galactica has done it, but in Star Wars, the survivors are spread out across the galaxy. Like Games of Thrones, it is an epic tale of betrayal/survival from several viewpoints in different places. There have been hints of a persecution of Alderaani survivors in Inferno Squad and a graphic novel about Leia, but a series like this would be awesome.         So, there you go Lucasfilm/Disney- less Mary Poppins in space and more Drama! Make Star Wars great again!   IW- bad feeling

It’s on time this year! A day early even!

Another summer has nearly passed and things have not been done and it seems to take FOREVER to get stuff updated. I am finally catching up on pictures for Tigletverse Facebook page, videos updated- no chance! Short stories have been blahhh! But I have made progress in the war against the back garden!

In amidst the entire editing/tidying/sorting/recycling/cleaning etc I have started Infinite Whoniverses series five, nearly halfway through and I’m already planning ahead for the 55th Anniversary, great stuff, but I can’t be the only one thinking of the 55th Anniversary surely?

I’ve been wanting to do something different for a while- I’m always doing hiking/nature photos and videos, so I did the Scarecrow trail for school and been to several Art places and doing Architecture pictures as well as a Horror festival that was literally comatose and an Anime/comics day at Manchester Library, which was good. It made me start the Bee Trail, only 14 out of 100, so might have another go at that sometime.

Looking at the weather forecast, today would have been the best day for a walk, warmer than the rest of the week, with plenty of rain to not look forward too. Guess the garden’s gonna grow back with a stuffing vengeance then- great-not!

Another thing I have tried to do is more pitching/submitting CV’s/ideas and projects to TV broadcasters and producers. I’d have better luck removing my teeth with pliers, just as much fun. I guess I have to admit that maybe, just maybe I am stuck in a bit of a rut, creatively/life and work. But instead of feeling sorry for myself, am still looking for that ever-elusive silver lining, a way forward, some endeavour that might shine a little light on ahead. Oh yay, It’s another Philosophical ramble boys and girls. Might just have to go for a walk, even if it rains, or do the garden, or finish a story or pitch a script. Slay some internal or metaphysical Dragons!

What’s going on in Ian’s Little World?

Hi ho, let’s get to it then- Happy 8th Bloggerversary, whatever I end up doing!!

FUN FACTOID NO.1- NOODLES!

pexels-photo-1028734.jpegFUN FACTOID NO.1- NOODLES!

Think I might need to spice the blog up a bit. So one thing I think I might do each week is try to find something to rave or rant about. This Week-

NOODLES BABY!

Maybe I listen too much to Steve Wrights Radio 2 show, or watch Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, but I think one thing I would find difficult to give up if there’s ever an Alien Invasion or Zombie Apocalypse, or I somehow find myself stranded on a Desert Island- is noodles. Why- I don’t know, I had some for tea the other day, the Chicken variety, and it’s something I thought of. The Spicy stir-fry is awesome, but you need plenty of water/juice to wash it down with.

Anyway, just something I thought I’d share!

Events- Liverpool MCM COMIC CON 2017- SUPERCLARK 3- Coming Soon!

DSCF0126So after two dozen Comic book Conventions/meetups and photoshoots last year, I’m off to the third event of 2017- MCM Comic Con-Liverpool, for BOTH days, not just one like last year.

Ellesmere Port Comic Con was great, I’m still working on photos, but getting EPCC and the Liverpool Cosplay Meet in January videos edited and uploaded was epic in itself. I made three versions of LCM with different music. The version uploaded featured Lindsey Stirling and Lzzy Hale from Halestorm and ‘Shatter me’. If that didn’t work, as backup I had Nami Kichi’s Cover versions of Brave Shine from Fate Stay/Night and Ignite from Sword Art Online 2.

For EPCC it was a general vid of the event and 360 shoot, then a video of the Cosplay Contest.

It was a comment off Ironman at EP that made me think I need to make another attempt at Superman/Clark Kent, so I have been planning a bit in advance, which makes a change from making things up as I go along like I normally do!

Anyway, that is the plan- Saturday Clark Kent, roving Reporter for the Daily Planet will be around, and then on Sunday I’ll need to find a Jimmy Olsen to film me doing my Super-thing!

Should be FUN!

Thanks also to Thomas Hulks as Professor Zoom/Reverse Flash!

VDay Blog- Courting Controversy

Here’s something el-presidente might tweet-

Lets play a game shall we? Just for fun.

Let’s call it ‘The Regeneration Game’. It’s a game any Doctor Who Fan can play, or writer/producer/actor, showrunner, whatever. You just have to lose the ability to count. Forget any ability to do simple maths, be a two year old just confused about this weird thing called ‘numbers’.

Actually, it’s a game Stephen Moffat invented, round about the time when he should’ve stepped down and done just Sherlock and Tintin rather than try juggling all three. (and dropping the ball on Who!)

Anyhoo, this is it- the only courting I’m gonna do on Valentine’s day- yes, SHE’S BACK BABY! A hot date with a Red-hot B^*%$! With a bad-A&%$ attitude- so watch out! Obi-Don Drumphioli never got as controversial as me and Miss C.

So, watch out, as we play THE REGENERATION GAME- Coming sooner than expected, or even wanted!

HAPPY VDAY!- WITH FLOWERS!

Autumn 2015- sort of, because it’s now Winter 2017!

autumn2015I went back to University last year, just on the Open Day to ask if there were any plans to actually print the Autumn 2015 Anthology. Next thing I know, it’s been taken off the website!

Anyway, it’s back online now. I think the funding for a print version fell through which was why it was put online in the first place. Even though the University has its own Publishing House.

My short story ‘A Riot in the Library’ is part of a collection of mainly poetry, and can be found on Pages 57-62. Though I wish I’d have written something better for the biographical section! Though looking back it seems the Editor copied it from one of my CV’s! Oh well, never mind Seamus!

Have to say I didn’t initially like the two-column layout at first, but think it’s grown on me.

Think there might be more life to the adventures of Sammy the Squirrel and Pat the Polar Bear, just have to wait and see won’t we boys and girls?!!

Now it’s just a case of seeing if the University will publish something else in the not-too distant future.

And here’s the link again to Inquisition, just in case you missed it the first or even second time!
