Ian’s Travelblog Adventures 2017- Where on Earth (and beyond!) is ITA going these Days?

119He might have gone round the wall, off the reservation, into the great big beyond. Those might be some answers I’d have, if I was being the new Mr. Man character- Mr. Sarcy-pants.

Okay, I will admit the hiking might have seemed to have flown South for the Winter and needs a new GPS system to find its way home again. Not that I’ve given up on it, but time, money (LACK OF BOTH), resources (old boots etc) and work has meant putting updates off time and again, though videos have been pretty-well kept updated, it’s been a nightmare, not quite of Elm Street-proportions, but close enough!

So, I merged both Tiglet’s Travels and ITA last year, creating ‘Tigletverse Travel and Photography’, with one Facebook page (please Like!) and not much up on Pinterest recently. The Blog/Storysite badly needs updating, but I thin I may have found a better page/platform for the whole shebang! It is difficult to try and keep things updated, even remotely interesting, but I shall persevere. That brings me to my next point- There is a possibility I’ve been humming-and-harring about over the past few months and I think it’s time to put it to the test, try it out and see if if works, if not, aha well, meandering Mercer will find something else to do I suppose. I’ve been using 500 Miles by the Proclaimers meets metal cover by Eric Calderone, but thinking of changing it, maybe to Rush Hour by Jane Wiedlin, or Manic Monday by the Bangles, but favourite so far is Bon Jovi’s Lost Highway. Just have to see how it goes. Better get hiking then hadn’t I? Just watch out for blisters!

So, there it is the BIG update- I’ve been to Talacre Beach/Dinas Bran castle / Chinese New Year / Went sightseeing with a Friend from L.A. / been to West Kirby Marine Lake for an awesome sunset, as well as from Halton castle. Watch the vids, look at the pics, hopefully on a new platform by the end of the month (or month after that!) and maybe, just maybe, we might get some organisation round here!

That would make a nice change wouldn’t it?!

VDay Blog- Courting Controversy

Here’s something el-presidente might tweet-

Lets play a game shall we? Just for fun.

Let’s call it ‘The Regeneration Game’. It’s a game any Doctor Who Fan can play, or writer/producer/actor, showrunner, whatever. You just have to lose the ability to count. Forget any ability to do simple maths, be a two year old just confused about this weird thing called ‘numbers’.

Actually, it’s a game Stephen Moffat invented, round about the time when he should’ve stepped down and done just Sherlock and Tintin rather than try juggling all three. (and dropping the ball on Who!)

Anyhoo, this is it- the only courting I’m gonna do on Valentine’s day- yes, SHE’S BACK BABY! A hot date with a Red-hot B^*%$! With a bad-A&%$ attitude- so watch out! Obi-Don Drumphioli never got as controversial as me and Miss C.

So, watch out, as we play THE REGENERATION GAME- Coming sooner than expected, or even wanted!

HAPPY VDAY!- WITH FLOWERS!

Dr Rrr Series 2- Adventures in the Xmasverse 2

Mr. Tiglet's Blog

Christmas is finally over and done with, now that The SnowDoctor and Dr. Rrr have searched The Xmasverse for the Purple Power Core and found nothing, just snow.

Next time Dr. Rrr feels the Furry Side of the Force as he goes to Mos Eisley Cantina and then Hoth and then Back to the Death Star. All in another adventure in a Galaxy far, far away…

Welcome to Anything can happen 2017!

Well, that’s what I’m hoping for anyway. A Fresh Start, a New Beginning, the slate wiped clean.keep-calm-because-anything-can-happen-1

To start with- I went to the shop and bought some wellies. I think my subconscious might be trying to tell me something- that was an impulse buy. Maybe my little jaunt round Talacre taught me to be more prepared than I already usually am for whatever eventualities may occur. It looks like it’ll be an epic five-part video anyway, plus I haven’t updated the five year anniversary like I thought I would.

Another thing I am planning in advance is Dr. Rrr! Series 2. In amongst the tidying and sorting I have not watched much this Christmas. (Really? How about Deep Space 9 series 7, or Brave or Thunderbolt Fantasy, or Doctor Who- The Return of Doctor Mysterio/Hell Bent/Spearhead from space, or Yuri on Ice finale (yes, really!) or even last episode of series 6 of Game of Thrones, what a revelation at the end!)

Okay, I might have watched a few things, but nothing really Christmassy, unless you count Nativity 3 in school or Cinderella in New Brighton, but that was before Term ended. Rogue One doesn’t count as an Xmas film, but saw it twice, the second time enjoyed it a bit more, but definitely more darker than others, about same as ep 3 I expect, but the prequels don’t really count anyway, in my opinion.

So there we go, anything can happen now I’ve got some wellies. It’s like when Ford Prefect tells Arthur Dent in Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy that the only thing he needs to survive is a towel, so I guess that’s next on my shopping list.

For now though, I’m eating my first pizza of 2017 and watching the New Sherlock- now there’s an epic combo if ever there was one.

Happy 2017- Get ready and keep your wellies handy, ‘cos anything can Happen!!

5 REASONS I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO ROGUE 1

star-wars-anthology-rogue-one-ca-310x165

1)The Original Opening Crawl intro-

“IT IS A PERIOD OF CIVIL WAR. REBEL SPACESHIPS, STRIKING FROM A HIDDEN BASE HAVE WON THEIR FIRST VICTORY AGAINST THE EVIL GALACTIC EMPIRE.

DURING THE BATTLE, REBEL SPIES MANAGED TO STEAL SECRET PLANS TO THE EMPIRE’S SECRET WEAPON, THE DEATH STAR, AN ARMOURED SPACE STATION WITH ENOUGH POWER TO DESTROY AN ENTIRE PLANET”

Star wars 1977 original opening crawl text.

So, here it is, 39 years later- the film based on that background text that introduced the very first Star Wars movie, later renamed A New Hope and the Fourth Episode of a projected nine. It’s got a heap of expectations on it though.

2) Hints in other media-

There was a radio play set beforehand and some of the novels had their own interpretation. The Han Solo Trilogy by AC Crispin told of a raid on Toprawa by Bria Tharen and Red Hand Squad. Battlefront 2 on the PS2 had a breakout on the Death Star and plans transmitted to Polis Massa and then the Tantive 4. So this would be the fourth version, since Disney took over and everything written beforehand has been shunted into a parallel universe, giving them a blank slate. (Although Grand Admiral Thrawn is turning up in Rebels series 3, which means they haven’t jettisoned everything like a load of Spice from the spice mines of Kessel then)

3) “That’s no moon, it’s a space station”

Obi Wans ominous recognition of the sheer, err enormity of the problem facing them is played well. The look of horror on his face as the Millennium Falcon approaches the Death Star is priceless- Immense, powerful, the ultimate power in the universe! About time it was revisited, shiny and new!

4) Obi Wan’s Narration over The First Trailer-

“For a thousand Generations the Jedi were the Guardians of peace and justice in the Old Republic. Before the Dark Times, before The Empire.”

As a Tie Fighter soars over a jungle, the outline of the Death Star is seen for the first time- an iconic image and one that sent a shiver up my spine! The trailers since then have built upon that, as well as giving more tantalising glimpses into the characters (and ships/vehicles- the AT-AT’s are back!)

5) There’s more to come!

If I was going to be cynical, then I’d say since taking over the franchise, Disney has upped its marketing and merchandising, milking the SW cashcow for all it’s worth.

Well, I won’t. Like I stated earlier, Lucasfilm has created a blank slate between Return of the Jedi and The New Trilogy. Rebels has been pretty good. The Live-action series has yet to materialise, but a number of spin-off/stand alone films has been announced. Boba Fett, Han Solo and even Yoda are getting their own films, but I’d love to see some of the Beings from the Cantina get their own film- Muftak the Talz or a Snaggletooth movie! Yeah, that could work- explore the difference between the tall blue snaggletooth’s and the smaller red ones! Maybe the red support the Empire and the rarer blues the Rebellion maybe?

Come on Lucasfilm, get it done!

Events- FOR THE LOVE OF SCI-FI COSPLAY SHOOT

15107379_10209735684622581_4515850338791953191_n-copyIt’s been a yet another manic Sunday as I headed off on an epic journey to Trafford Park in Manchester for the inaugural FOR THE LOVE OF SCI-FI weekend at Bowlers Exhibition Centre.

A bit further out of my way than usual with a stroll near the Bridgewater canal along a stretch I didn’t do in my epic hike two years ago from Runcorn to Manchester, but it was a very nice day, if a bit on the chilly side of the Force (but not Hoth-cold, if you get what I mean!)

From just-after sunrise to just-before sunset I got 360 pictures and video footage. Going through that was epic enough, cutting 45 and looking at what could make it into a video. Here’s a taster- something that’s not your average Cosplay Contest- there wasn’t one, but an epic Star Wars themed shoot as Uncle George corralled as many Cosplayers as possible into a corner. I immediately found the best vantage point, practically invading the stage, but the results were well-worth the effort.

I also noticed it was a bit Christmassy- several Leia’s and Han’s, Eight Stormtroopers, Six Jawas, a few Bounty Hunters, Three Imperial Royal Guards, Two Tie Fighter Pilots and Scout Troopers, One Wookie/Moff Tarkin/Darth Vader/Darth Maul/Lando and an R2D2 rolling up late! (But not in a Pear tree it has to be said!)

So just need to edit/process the pictures and make a video- no pressure there then! Think it’ll be later in the week, still haven’t finished sorting Wholock photos from LAST weekend- oops, better get my skates on like Yuri then!

Thanks to George for directing the Troops!

Thanks to Delroy, Camille and all the Cosplayers!

700th Blogpost- Events- Rozanne Bell Exhibition @Unicorn Gallery, Widnes

030It can be interesting sometimes when you pass by places on the bus or train and something reaches out and grabs your attention by the jugular.

A sign on the window of Unicorn Gallery said ‘Meet celebrated artist Rozanne Bell’. Since I hadn’t the foggiest who she was, I googled her, found her website and was amazed by the quality and scope of her artwork.

Greeted enthusiastically by her dog Hector and a glass of mulled wine, I stepped out of my comfort zone and into a whole other universe- Fine Art, very fine indeed as I examined a couple of paintings. The Meadows one stood out.

I asked Rozanne about a couple of details, mainly her use of glitter, as it tends to get everywhere when I use it, but in her pictures, it is very fine and expertly applied. She said she sprays it on, but if I tried that, I’d probably get it in my hair and everywhere but the picture! The Meadow full of flowers was intrically woven together, as with all her paintings, a mixture of layered images, made up of glitter, resin, oils, inks, gessos, gold and silver leaf, all vibrantly mixed and organised in an iconic and unique way. So unique that each painting is slightly varied, maybe in colour or slight change of detail, but no two are exactly the same.

033

Her other works on show include Wildflower Beach, Bejewelled skies over windmill, Red lane and many other pieces. I have to say I really like Starry night with its full, yellow/orange moon over the bay. The moons in her pictures are much more impressive than the so-called Super moons I’ve seen recently, but that’s just me!

Looking around the Gallery, I saw some other interesting pieces by artists like Steven Scholes, Paul Ehlen, Joan Puerto and Gisela Ueberall, particularly upstairs. Rozanne Bell’s Exhibition is still on for another week until the 26th November. Prices range from £515- £1295.

An interesting glimpse into a versatile and very imaginative Artist. Rozanne is off to Tavistock Picture Framing Galleries in Devon next week with New York and several other prints.

Unicorn Gallery, Widnes is open 9AM-5PM (Closed Sunday and Thursday)-
