You got the Touch, you got the Power- Transformers the movie 30th anniversary

“ONE SHALL STAND AND ONE SHALL FALL”- Optimus Prime

 Transformers-movieposter-west

This weekend I finished watching Attack on Titan- the first Anime series watched completely.

Then I realised, well, I’ve been watching Anime a lot longer than the last couple of years, since the Animatrix tales and The Girl who leapt through Time.

While a lot of ‘classic’ animation from 80’s was Hanna Barbara/loony tunes, there was a lot from Japan- Transformers being the most prominent.

So, the Movie version was released 30 years ago August in the USA but December in the UK, but I probably saw it a year later, if that doesn’t make your head spin, what will???

Anyway, the film stands up remarkably well, mainly due to the strong voice cast and the theme. The story itself saw the demise of most of the original Transformers, especially the death of Optimus Prime, an unpopular move that made the producers bring him back, but that was later.

“THIS IS THE END OF THE ROAD GALVATRON”- Rodimus Prime

While I preferred the UK marvel comics storylines over the Cartoon (Anime!) The Dinobots were my favourites in both, though there were two conflicting Origin versions.

I’ve also being thinking of cosplay possibilities. After seeing Kev Burnett’s awesome Optimus Cosplay win the competition at Mersey Comic Con 2 in November, I’m thinking of making Soundwave or Sideswipe. It’ll be an epic job, but something to look forward to.

Anyway, Here’s to the 30th Anniversary of Transformers the Movie- AUTOBOTS ROLL OUT!

THE BATTLE IS OVER, BUT THE GALAXY-SPANNING ADVENTURES OF THE TRANSFORMERS WILL CONTINUE

AND THE GREATEST AUTOBOT OF THEM ALL- OPTIMUS PRIME

WILL RETURN!”
