Ok, been thinking about this for a few weeks now, how to drive myself forward, pluck up the courage to get certain things sorted? I mentioned in ‘Sundry Ramblings’ about doing something with my Mum’s unpublished works, something I think more about, especially with Mother’s Day coming up.
It’s strange how Art can echo life, Like in Smallville Season 9’s ‘Absolute Justice’, the JSA tells Clark he has to step up and that he can fly, if he can just let go of the things holding him back. The same is true of the Cowardly Lion in ‘The Wizard of Oz’. With School doing it over Easter, I thought my experience of the Play in High School, plus Drama stuff at Uni may be helpful. But what ‘The Wizard’ says is that the Courage is there, The Lion just needed something to bring it out. A catalytic process, a giant leap over the Moon, even just a kick up the backside helps, it’s all a matter of Motivation.
AHA! There is the crux, nub, heart, nucleus of the matter. A transformation, like Cringer turning into Battle Cat from He-Man(!) Not just a change of tactics, but a complete overhaul of attitude and goals that will encourage and challenge in new and unexpected ways.
I think the point I am rambling towards (via the scenic route- much like my Mini hike on Thursday) is that delaying/procrastinating/finding excuses runs out in the end and you are left with the inevitable task of doing what you don’t really want to do/haven’t really thought that you could do it.
So there it is. A shiny Yellow Brick Road to the Emerald City, which reminds me that Chris Vogler used Oz to illustrate the stages of The Hero’s Journey, which I have not read in ages, so shall go study it now for inspiration!
There you go, Simba’s finest fling! (oh yeah, forgot to mention ‘The Lion King’-Doh!!)
Go on, awaken the Lion within!!! (Thundercats Ho?)!!
